SouthernLINC Wireless Unveils Prepaid Plus Cellular Plan

New prepaid cellular plan offers affordable cellular calls, along with unlimited text messaging and Push to Talk two-way radio

ATLANTA – July 2, 2008 – SouthernLINC Wireless, a Southern Company (NYSE: SO), today announced the availability of the Prepaid Plus calling plan. Prepaid Plus is a new regional prepaid cellular plan that provides unlimited Push to Talk two-way radio, unlimited night and weekend cellular calling, 10 cents per minute daytime cellular calling and unlimited text messaging throughout the SouthernLINC Wireless Regional Calling Area. Daily access to cellular and Push to Talk services is just $1.50 and is charged only on the days the service is used. Access to unlimited text messaging is 50 cents per day and is charged only on the days that a text message is sent or received. The cellular phone plan also offers access to downloads, including ringtones and wallpapers; users will be charged any applicable fees for downloaded items. The Prepaid Plus offering comes at a time when consumer demand for such pricing is on the rise. According to UBS Investment Research, prepaid cellular subscriber growth in the United States outpaced postpaid growth by nearly 21 percent in the third quarter of 2007.
